Festival Weekend Shows, Millfield, Burnham

Notes for performers – PLEASE READ THESE CAREFULLY!

 

Thank you for your interest.

 

The plan is to run the Saturday show from 2pm – 10pm and the Sunday show from 1pm -10pm. Each day, most acts will be allocated roughly 30 minutes, including changeovers, allowing on average, 20 minutes for performance. (There may be exceptions in the evening – you’ll be told if this applies to you. Also, please let us know if do not wish to fill a whole 20-minute slot – that’s fine by us and gives us a bit of extra time to work with.)

 

We are unlikely to be able to fit everyone in – each year we get dozens of approaches, some from performers living hundreds of miles from Burnham! We will be choosing acts, partly on a "first-come, first served" basis, partly on geography and partly to provide the best mix of music we can. If you’re not lucky this year, remind us if you apply next year, so we can take that into account.

 

There is not time for full soundchecks – only a brief linecheck before each act is introduced. That’s why we need as much information about your lineup and requirements as possible in advance. Full PA, with onstage monitor mix, backline amps, drumkit (with cymbals)* and Roland electric piano will be provided. This is quality equipment and or the sake of speed, everyone will be expected to use the gear provided**. A tune-up area with tuning facilities will be provided backstage – please use it so you don’t waste time tuning up on stage.

 

You must adhere to the performance time allocated. Please finish your set and leave the stage when asked to do so. If you over-run, you’ll deprive someone else of their full time on stage – imagine how you’d feel if someone else did that to you!

 

Everyone hates filling in forms, but this information makes it easier for us to make you sound good. Please make sure the information is accurate and up-to-date – and let the stage manager know of any last-minute changes in lineup or instrumentation. You can return this form by hand, post or email to the above address. A tape/CD, bio and some indication of the kind of gigs you are currently playing is helpful, but by no means essential. We’ll be back in nearer to the time to confirm if we have been able to fit you in and – if you have been successful – when you’ll be performing. If, having sent you a form, you find you no longer available over the Festival Weekend, it’d be really helpful if you could let us know, please! We’ll let you know as soon as we can, when we have chosen the acts for this year’s shows. In the meantime, please don’t call us. We will get back to you – honestly!!

 

Finally, don’t forget to spread the word about the festival!! Encourage all your friends, workmates, relatives and fans to come along and make a day of it – it’ll be a lot of fun! Let us know if you can put up posters (NO FLYPOSTING – GETS US INTO TROUBLE!!), also if you have a website, give us the url and we’ll put a link to it on our site.
